ABSTRACT

The São Martinho gold occurrence in E Portugal is hosted in Upper Proterozoic metasedimentary rocks (mostly meta arenites and metapelites) of the Série Negra sequence. The Série Negra is believed to have contributed the metals that have been remobilised in two mineralising events, one low-temperature (371 °C) and another high-temperature (> 550 °C). The two ore forming stages result in distinct mineral parageneses.
