ABSTRACT

Facts and questions related to a new type of gold deposit, containing minor amounts of PGM are discussed in this paper. The deposit is near a secondary redox interface below an economic Cu deposit of Kupferschiefer type. The gold-bearing body comprises a transition zone containing low grade (<0.2%) copper values and elevated (>0.5 ppm) gold content. The deposit, containing 2.25 ppm of Au in average, occurs in red units of the basal Zechstein sedimentary strata and uppermost part of the Weissliegend sandstone.
