ABSTRACT

Gold and silver distribution in the sulphides of the Uzelginsk Zn-Cu-Ag deposit seems to be reflected by their occurrence in the mode of “invisible” gold as well as submicroscopic inclusions of Au-Ag alloys and Au compounds with S, Sb, As, Te, Hg and Se. Gold is mostly incorporated in sulphides: in pyrite 1.0-2.5 ppm Au (total range 0.7-20 ppm), in chalcopyrite 1.5-3 ppm Au (1-18.6 ppm) and in sphalerite 1.5-4.5 ppm Au (0.9-10.6 ppm). Fahlore is the main concentrator of Ag: low-iron tennantite (0.1-0.6% Ag) is the dominant variety. Native gold, hessite, petzite, krennerite and sylvanite are of minor importance for Au and Ag concentration.
