ABSTRACT

Applied mineralogy has been found increasing use in industrial applications during the last three decades. The present work deals with the mineralogical and chemical composition of twelve feldspar samples from pegmatites, Abu Zawal and Zerib areas, Red Sea Coast, Egypt. The variations have been investigated using XRD and EDAX techniques as well as optical microscopy. The physical and ceramic properties are discussed for characterization of the raw and treated samples. The obtained results showed the suitability of the feldspars of both areas for utilization as a flux in ceramic industries.
