ABSTRACT

Taxco is a well known locality for their low-sulphidation epithermal Ag deposits, but also hosts a number of medium-size to small carbonate-hosted fluorite deposits that received little or no attention, even though can be linked to the main silver-bearing veins. The main deposit is known as “La Azul” and consists on carbonate replacements by banded fluorite- and breccia chimneys filling, in close relationship with the regional “Xochicalco-Gavilán” fault.
