ABSTRACT

The study intends to use preliminary results from ore petrography of the Dalnesapadny Pb-Zn-Cu-barite deposit to characterise the sequence of mineralising events and the character of their metalliferous fluids. At least two mineralogically and texturally distinct styles of mineralisation suggest the following chronological sequence of events: A late metasomatic remobilising event followed on an early, sysedimentary-hydrothermal mineralising event. Fluid data are difficult to obtain, but preliminary results indicate low salinities and low formation temperatures of the metalliferous fluids. Host rock dolomite, albite and vein calcite form generations of luminescent minerals. Chemical data reveal a crude primary zonation pattern in ores with adjacent aureoles in the carbonate and siliciclastic host rocks. A modified alteration index implies a control of the country rock chemistry on stratiform mineralisation. Basin sediments appear to have been a possible metal source. Basin compaction with host rocks associated bi-modal rhyolitic and mafic volcanics are assumed to be the thermal force for the ore mineral remobilisation phase.
