ABSTRACT

We report a case of acquired Brown’s syndrome presumed inflammatory. It concerns a 4 year old girl. After a walk in the forest (August 2001) the family noticed an obvious left hypotropia with a limitation elevation of the left eye. The investigations were normal. An excoriation in the internal part of the left superior eyelid was noticed. Three other cuts were on the nose, the superior lip and the chin. The syndrome was confirmed by a forced test duction. An MRI of the oculomotor muscles provided evidence of a very localized thickening at the level of the pulley. This limitation (April 2002) became occasional. The girl indicated the appearance of a click-syndrome. This syndrome of acquired Brown shows that a local inflammation can extend to the complex of the oblique superior pulley.
