ABSTRACT

In this paper, some results of reliability analyses on pile bearing capacity in Tongji University are presented. The first part is an accunt of the typical layers of Shanghai soils, with empirical soil parameters such as skin friction and the resistance. The random field theory has been used to evaluate the spatial average variance of CPT which is proposed to estimete the pile bearing capacity. The second part is associated with partial factors of pile foundation design, different partial factors have been given for revising “Shanghai Foundation Code” in future. The reliability index β is evaluated and discussed. In the third part, a new fuzzy reliability analysis approach on the basis of the pile settlement rate model and a simplex method have been derived. The statistical parameters of the initial shear stiffness as well as the initial compressibility stiffness are given for typical Shanghai soils.
