ABSTRACT

Cage size have been increased in some fish farms during the last 10 years, and improved production and higher revenue are often indicated. Comparative trials between cages with circumferences 50 and 90 m were done in commercial scale in Tingvollfjorden at the western coast of Norway from January to July 1991. Growth, feed utilization, mortality, sexual maturation rates and body composition of Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L, reared in cages of different size under commercial farming conditions were compared.
