ABSTRACT

When developing a concept for a floating fish farm made of flexible PVC-bags, several criteria for design must be taken into account. From calculations, model tests and full scale measurements, knowledge about important design parameters has been developed. A positive pressure difference inside the bag is essential for the hydraulic operation and also to maintain the shape of the bag. This must be accounted for by sufficient buoyancy reserves and waterplane stiffness. A bag pen may either be individually moored or suspended in an anchored supporting system. For the latter case one have to account for the individual motions of and forces on the two different hydrodynamic systems.
