ABSTRACT
Based on more than 10 years of R&D in research institutions as well as in full scale installations, our company has during the last 5 years developed a new type of multispecie recirculation farm for fish. In addition to produce high quality transparent water the emphasis has been put on developing a high performance industrial production system, simple management, process reliability, low investment costs and high technical quality. The system has been developed in Puraqs R&D prototype full scale facility near Ålesund. Turbot has been used as a test fish. At Sintef, our company in a joint venture program now are testing the technology on sensitive marine larvae, primarily to develop a technique to increase the quality and survival rate of the fry, but also by the use of scientific methods to understand better the microbiology in recirculation plants and use this to improve the fattening farm recirculation technique as well.
