ABSTRACT

Hydrodynamical experiments have been carried out to improve the present upwelling system (silos) for incubation of yolk sac halibut larvae. Experiments with dye, documented by colour prints and video, showed that the outlet sieve functioned adequately, and the importance of managing the current in the inlet area. The best results were found by placing a special regulator in the cone and a perforated plate in the inlet pipe underneath.
