ABSTRACT

Dune sand is a commonly occurring material in many hot arid countries. However, it is generally considered to be unsuitable for use in concrete because of its fineness and single-size grading(1). This short paper describes a preliminary programme of laboratory trial mixes aimed at investigating the potential of dune sand for use as fine aggregate in concrete either alone or in combination with other materials.
