ABSTRACT

The 8th IEC at Dijon in September 1993 took place 21 years after the first Conference in the series, at Washington DC in September 1972. From initial attendance figures of around 80, the highest number of participants (250) was at the Dijon Conference. Numbers of submitted papers range fron around 40 at early Conferences to over 170 later in the series, and posters from 17 to nearly 80. Numbers of papers in Conference Proceedings range from 12 to 115, and abstracts from 10 to over 100. A brief review of the evolution of selected topics over the span of the Conference series is given.
