ABSTRACT
In 1980, following attendance at the First International Marine Biological Workshop held in Hong Kong, the junior author (A. M. C. ) suggested to the senior (Y. L. ) that we embark on a joint review of the echinoderm fauna of southern China. This project expanded considerably from the original concept due to the vastly greater amount of information accumulated by Iiao, so completion has taken some years.
