Cell cycle in regenerating feather star arms

Durations of the cell cycle and its interphase subdivisions were measured for the blastemal mesoderm cells in regenerating arms of adult feather stars at 15°C. Between the fourth and sixth days or regeneration, the method of labeled mitoses revealed that the main subdivisions of interphase were: G₁ = 8 h, S = 12.5 h, and G₂ = 3 h. If one assumes a short mitotic interval (less than 1 h), the total cell cycle had a duration of about 24 h.
