ABSTRACT

Durations of the cell cycle and its interphase subdivisions were measured for the blastemal mesoderm cells in regenerating arms of adult feather stars at 15°C. Between the fourth and sixth days or regeneration, the method of labeled mitoses revealed that the main subdivisions of interphase were: G1 = 8 h, S = 12.5 h, and G2 = 3 h. If one assumes a short mitotic interval (less than 1 h), the total cell cycle had a duration of about 24 h.
