ABSTRACT
The Energieversorgung Ostbayern AG (OBAG) operates the Jansen pumped storage facility in the southeastern part of Germany. The upper storage reservoir, called the Rabenleite, is currently being rehabilitated.
The main difficulty with the existing seal was the lack of an effective control system. Therefore, a measurement and control system was one of the important points in the development of rehabilitation work.
The measurement and control system contains the following features:
subdivision of the reservoir into control sections
installation of geosynthetic clay liners for proofing of the subsoil
collection of drainage water within each control section
measurement of drainage water in an inspection gallery
transmission of data to the control center in the power plant.
This paper presents the design and construction details of the measurement and control system.
