      ABSTRACT

      The construction of the Los Angeles Metro project required the excavation of station and tunnel structures in alluvial soils and the weak Puente Formation bedrock. This paper reports on the performance of two typical station excavations and the performance of the typical line tunnel segments in the differing ground types encountered in two reaches of the subway project.
