ABSTRACT

Romanian Sub-Carpathian regions, where a large number of oil fields lie, are faced with instability phenomena, of various types.

Based on complex, multidisciplinary researches, hazard maps have been achieved for a number of oil sites (located in Moldavia, Oltenia and Muntenia). Suitable stabilisation steps were taken regarding the high-risk areas.

The paper is a survey of the principles and methods to achieve hazard maps such as the above-mentioned ones. Also presented are details regarding the horizontal drains, which work well in clayey soils (e.g. Cilioaia landslide, Moldavia). These solutions have been experimented successfully on many unstable sites, by using various technologies.
