ABSTRACT

The development strategy of Constantza Port in Romania on medium and long timescale, plans construction of wide reclaimed land that requires major filling volumes. A great port complex such as Constantza Port originates a large amount of solid waste, figuring some 35,000 tons/year. To drop costs, a plan has been drawn up to use said waste in reclaiming new port areas. Using solid waste as filling material requires but special actions to protect environment. There were, thus, set dedicated building designs, checked out by theoretical studies and in situ researches, to meet demands for limiting pollution and to suit the Port development plan.
