ABSTRACT

The ‘quick’ multistage oedometric relaxation test is a new type of the oedometric tests. Its duration is only one day since the stages are interrupted after 10–20 minute elapsed times except the last one that is longer than the 99% dissipation time. The points of the compression curve can be determined on the basis of the solution of inverse problems. These solutions may be non-reliable sometimes for short stages. In this case the parameters can be estimated with the use of the coefficient of consolidation identified for the last long stage using a special section of the merit function.
