ABSTRACT
Due to the construction of the Freudenau hydro power plant on the Danube river in Vienna a groundwater management system was designed and implemented. Control of groundwater level is done by operating 21 pairs of wells and 4 additional wells for surface water supply. Control of water quality is carried out by using on-line monitoring stations and biomonitoring. It is supported by means of a hydrological information system.
