ABSTRACT

Stockholm Water Co and The Municipal Association Norrvatten has started a project to investigate if artificial recharge of raw water from Lake Malaren can be a long term sustainable water supply system for the Greater Stockholm area. Existing water supply system and expectations on the future system are presented. Actual areas in the Uppsala Esker are presented together with a first plan for the formation of the future supply system. A second phase of the project in progress, comprises strategic environment assessment and pilot plant column tests. These investigations are reported separately.
