ABSTRACT

A correct understanding of recharge well behaviour has both theoretical and practical significance as a recharge well may behave quite differently from an extraction one due to clogging effects. This paper presents an analysis of a well recharge experiment made at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) from 1993 to 1995. The field test data could be used to define a parameter, called Recharge Clogging Factor (RCF), to characterize the time-dependent reduction of hydraulic conductivity of the clogging zone around the well. FEM analyses using this parameter were done and simulated successfully the recharge test curves.
