ABSTRACT

In most concrete materials, microcracking induced damage is one of the main mechanisms of irreversible deformation and failure. Such a damage process modifies significantly mechanical and hydraulic properties of the material, and consequently is of first importance in safety analysis of constructions. The material damage can be induced by both mechanical loading and drying process. In this paper, we present some results of numerical modelling of induced damage in unsaturated concrete material. The finite element method is used to solve fully coupled hydromechanical problem for dessiccation-shrinkage in concrete.
