ABSTRACT

Geotechnical structures subjected to seismic loads are routinely designed using quasi-static design loads. The displacement-based stability analysis, suggested earlier, is adapted here to solve for displacements of reinforced slopes. A scheme for calculating displacements for the rotational mechanism is shown. Yield accelerations for reinforced slopes are calculated, and an example is given of how the expected displacements for seismically loaded slopes can be computed for a true earthquake record.
