ABSTRACT

This paper is going to present and evaluate experimental and numerical investigations into the bearing behaviour of plate anchors loaded horizontally in non-cohesive soil. The bearing capacity of so-called screw anchors was determined using large-scale model tests. For the three dimensional finite element calculations, the hardening soil model was used to simulate the behaviour of the soils. When compared, the results of both tests corresponded to a great degree and they also enable general statements to be made about the bearing behaviour of anchor plates at deep levels.
