ABSTRACT

The Northwest Territories Community Mobilization Partnership and Job Development Strategy is a comprehensive, multi-partnered, community and business driven strategy formed in 1995. Community Mobilization believes that people who live in a community are best able to take the action required to benefit that community. They solve problem and build action plans using the capacities of local members, groups, councils and business partners. Community Mobilization takes seriously its responsibility to industry employers who place considerable trust in the organization’s ability to cooperatively select competent, reliable workers with community input. Instruction comes largely from industry partners and government, geologists, mining engineer and environmentalists recruited by Community Mobilization to deliver various components. Community Mobilization depends on the support from its resource industry employers who can offer good paying jobs with opportunity for advancement.
