ABSTRACT

We propose here a project to study the complex phenomenon of groundwater pollution. It is an attempt to answer the following basic question: “Having done the quantity of rain or irrigation, of fertilizer, how much this will damage the layer of drinkable water?”. We continue and extend our studies on waters carrying the nitrogen compounds (from fertilizers) and penetrating the soil layers to the drinkable waters ( Marinov, A.M. & Marcu, F.C. 1998), (Marinov, A.M. & Mihailescu,M.1994). The approach unifying the fluid engineering, chemistry, and agriculture studies, aims a quantitative (mathematical) description of this complex phenomenon influenced by quantity of rain, distribution of fertilizers, type soil composition, plant roots, and wells placement. We will predict the concentration of nitrate in the groundwater.
