ABSTRACT

Column and flow channel experiments and investigations in a water catchment area were carried out to investigate the transport of particles and particle-bound pollutants. The particle transport showed a good correlation with the modelling of colloid stability and the transport range derived from the filter theory. A significant connection between the transport of PAH and particles has been observed. An estimation of the PAH transport on the base of Kow-values overestimates the PAH-sorption and the break through times. Transport and sorption of PAH were highly influenced by mobile inorganic particles and organic macromolecules.
