ABSTRACT
Rapid growth of population in Tehran, needed to transmit substantial quantities of surface water to the city from adjacent basins. Traditional injection method for disposal of domestic wastewater caused a rise in groundwater table. This rise in groundwater table makes serious problems such as forming marshlands, flooding basements of buildings and causes difficulties in sewage disposal in the southern parts of the city.
