ABSTRACT

Many of the previous investigations of seawater intrusion have either focused on the physical issues and assumed that the multitude of species in a salt/freshwater system could be represented by a single non-reactive species, or they have focused on the geochemical issues and neglected the complex flow behavior in a variable density flow system. Often geochemical investigations were only done in ID-column experiments. In this study we focused on modelling the chemical and the physical processes and their interaction in a small-scale coastal aquifer in Denmark.
