ABSTRACT
An overview and critical appraisal of geotechnical education at the four primary universities in Ireland is presented. While finding the general standard of education high, the paper identifies areas for improvement such as the need to introduce more physical demonstration models and videos in the teaching of geotechnics. Some simple means of sharing geotechnical resources to enhance the quality of students’ education are suggested.
