The necessity of knowledge of geotechnics for officers of military ground forces

The paper presents initially a succinct evolution in time of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering field and then is presented a short history of the national educational system for officers of land forces. Based on both above evolutions resulted the necessity of maintaining in the educational programs for officers also in future of the subject of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering.
