ABSTRACT

Since 1975, a course on slope stability is offered to the last year students of the French École Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’État (ENTPE). This paper describes the place of this speciality course in a general curriculum for the education of civil engineers. The technological changes which influenced the pedagogical methods are then discussed, in addition to the possible extensions of such a course (continued education, seminars, organisation of courses in other countries, use of the Internet) and its links with research (DEA, theses).
