ABSTRACT

The first step is the study of the originalities of grains without glue (bound), by means of principles of continuum medium, in order to classify and to get reference behaviours for sands, aggregates and remoulded clays. The second step explains how behaviours could be modified by different glue types (ductile, fragile, viscous, …). The third step deals with the behaviour of grains with and without glue in order to compare natural and remoulded soils. The study of the previous specimens is completed by geological pictures illustrating the in situ ground reality : heterogeneous and fissured. The behaviour predicted by the previous hypothesis is compared with in situ measurements for different structures. These results are presented by multimedia documents in complement of text books; part of it is in the Web site https://geomeca.ecp.fr">https://geomeca.ecp.fr or https://geomeca.civil.ist.utl.pt">https://geomeca.civil.ist.utl.pt.
