ABSTRACT
A discussion of the role of computers within the education of the geotechnical engineer is presented. The computer is a useful tool for the engineer, but successful solution of many problems requires extensive knowledge in geotechnical engineering, mechanics, and engineering science in order to prepare input data and to determine the validity of the computed results.
