ABSTRACT
The presented paper briefly discusses some of the main features of the computer package B4, a software for the analysis of vertical stresses and settlements of the half-space loaded with a wide collection of various types of vertical loads. Besides the computation of stresses and settlements the package yields support to the computation of consolidation using vertical drains. With a built-in intensive graphical support and numerical output the package offers the students a wide range of options to track the complete solution from the start to the end, thus yielding the opportunity to supervise their own analysis. The package namely also offers a link to the popular text processor WinWord to create the analysis reports equipped with the used equations and the obtained results. Such a form of the results is very transparent and thus convenient for the tracking of the solution history.
