ABSTRACT
A new format for teaching geotechnical engineering has been tested. The paper describes a model used for teaching problem-solving in general and how it is applied in a course in foundation engineering. A brief description of problem-solving from a learning perspective is also given. Finally some ideas are presented for how information technology can be incorporated in a course and enhance learning.
