ABSTRACT
Author firstly shows which are the different ways to become an engineer or diplom-engineer in Austria, where technical university studies take at least five years and they may be extended up to nearby eight years. It is possible to become a Civil Engineer in the universities of Innsbruck, Graz or Vienna. The Paper offers details on various curricula for Civil Engineering and namely Geotechnical Engineering before and after graduation. The important role of case studies is then emphasized in order to improve the level and efficiency of teaching activity in the discussed field.
