ABSTRACT

In order to better understand self-ignition of coals around the gates, this paper dealt with computer simulation of coal spontaneous combustion in the pit. Firstly, a physical model and a two-dimensional mathematical model for coal spontaneous combustion were put forward, according to the distribution of crushed coal around tailgate of fully mechanized longwall top-coal caving (LTCC) face. And then a calculation program for the models was developed. Finally, the program has been successfully used to simulate and predict self-ignition of crushed coal, taken place in a tailgate of No. 4308 workface in Dongtan coal mine.
