ABSTRACT

The burst of soft rock is studied by Software ANSYS in this paper. By analyzing the generated data, the criterion of generalized stress (or strain) rate is proposed as a means to predict rockburst occurrence. In detail, this approach has the following features: during rockburst, the stress and the strain change more rapidly at the location nearer to the burst point than at any other location at the same time; and also the two valuables vary faster at the moment nearer to the burst point than at any other moment considering the same location. As a practice, the criterion is employed to forecast the rockburst during the extracting, and a rational conclusion is obtained.
