ABSTRACT
The paper discusses safety issues related to applications of high voltage machinery and equipment in mines, both in Poland and abroad. Hazards related to methane and coal dust explosion, and fire are reviewed in detail. So are the measures used to minimize and control these hazards. Shock hazard and its control, and methane explosion hazard from frictional sparking are reviewed in detail based on Polish mining experiences.
