ABSTRACT
The Atlas Uranium Mill tailings facility is an unlined tailings disposal facility located on the banks of the Colorado River, near Moab, Utah. Perforated vertical wick drains were installed in 2000 to accelerate tailings consolidation and provide hydraulic relief prior to placing a final cover. This paper summarizes the performance of the wick drains, after nearly one year of operation.
