ABSTRACT

Founded in 1971, COST is an intergovernmental framework for European Co-operation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research, allowing the co-ordination of nationally funded research on a European level. COST Actions cover basic and pre-competitive research as well as activities of public utility. COST is a bottom-up organisation. A group of interested researchers made an initiative to form a group concerning unbound granular materials and COST 337 Unbound Granular Materials for Road Pavements was formed in 1996. It was a four year action and 19 COST countries participated in it. The group finished its work in 2000 and completed its final report in 2001. This is a general presentation of the work emphazising, however, the recommendations.
