ABSTRACT
River bank filtration and bank filtration at lakes have been used as a reliable source for drinking water production in Europe for more than hundred years. A large variety of schemes has been designed according to site-specific conditions. Available information is presented to give an overview of aquifer conditions and hydraulic controls that determine well-field design and pumping regimes.
