ABSTRACT

Thermal comfort, heating and cooling energy demand have a strong relation to the solar heat gains through glazing. For the determination of the total energy transmittance (g-value) different calculation and laboratory measurement methods exist. If the measurement has to be done at the building site a calorimetric method has been developed. The angle dependence of the g-value and the influence of the diffuse sky radiation have been accounted for. In the paper the method is described and a typical measurement is presented.
