ABSTRACT

The paper shows results of the study on building heat consumption made in order to establish data for building annual specific heat consumption in Latvia. One of the study results was data on building specific heat loss coefficient for serial multistoried buildings derived from measured annual heat consumption. These data showed great variations of the specific heat loss coefficient (±25%) from the mean values for exactly the same type of buildings. The paper explores influence of differences in the inside air temperature and building orientation on the numerical value of measured specific heat loss coefficient and shows the margin of these influences. The paper briefly shows concept of Latvian Building Code LBN 002-01 “Thermal performance of building envelope” that limits building heat losses on a basis of normative building heat loss coefficient calculated for the reference building. It also gives the model of the building heat consumption certification system proposed in Latvia as a consequence of the studies done.
