ABSTRACT

The aim of this paper is to develop a decision support system for optimally scheduling the maintenance of reinforced concrete (RC) decks among many existing highway bridges, in order to establish a rational maintenance strategy, by introducing the concept of Life Cycle Cost (LCC). In order to introduce the monitoring data into the evaluation of damage state of RC decks, it is unavoidable to involve some subjective uncertainties in the inspection results, because the inspection data are almost obtained by inspectors, regardless that they are experienced or inexperienced. To overcome such problems, it is attempted to utilize the fuzzy reasoning and the classifier system. Numerical example are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.
