ABSTRACT

Insitu stress measurement using hydraulic fracturing method is new in Indonesia. This method was applied to determine 3 dimensional insitu stresses at the Pongkor underground gold mine, West Java. Three bore holes of different directions were drilled for this particular measurement. The tests were carried out at Tramming South Ciurug Level 500 with depth of 290m from surface. The rock mass around the test locations were of tuff breccias and tuff andesite. This paper describes and discusses the result of the hydraulic fracturing test conducted at the Pongkor underground gold mine.
